Transport America Community Initiative | MS 150 – Bike MS, National MS Society
Family and community are two fundamental core values that drive our actions at Transport America. This year, we’re proud to support Bike MS, a great cause that raises money to help improve the lives of people living with multiple sclerosis.
The MS 150 with Bike MS
The Upper Midwest Chapter of Bike MS offers six bike rides, and Transport America is helping out with one of them: the C.H. Robinson MS 150 Ride from June 12-14, 2015. The cycling adventure begins in Duluth and ends 150 miles away in the Twin Cities. A free bus ride carries participants to Duluth the night before the big event. Then, a two-day journey, including a festive overnight event, takes nearly 4,000 bike riders to the Twin Cities. Participants must pay a minimum fundraising amount of $300, plus a $55 registration fee.
How Transport America is Making a Difference
Transport America is donating 12 tractors and trailers for the event. Eleven of the trailers will haul bikes to Proctor, Minnesota in time for thousands of MS 150 participants to pick them up on June 13. The final reefer trailer will transport sandwiches, snacks, fruit and other refreshments for bike riders to enjoy along the trail from Duluth to the Twin Cities.
All 12 tractors will be driven by volunteer truck drivers who are excited to donate their time to the MS 150 and help make the important event a success. In addition, many office volunteers will diligently coordinate logistics behind the scenes to ensure everything falls into place for the event.
